2026 Audi RS5: NZ pricing revealed for 250km/h PHEV sedan and Avant

Audi New Zealand has revealed full pricing and first specification details for the all-new Audi RS5 sedan and RS5 Avant.

Due to arrive in New Zealand in September, the RS5 Sedan starts at $194,990, excluding on-road costs, while the RS5 Avant station wagon starts at $196,900.

That places the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) performance RS models just under $50,000 more than the S5 Sedan and S5 Avant, which are both priced from $147,990.

The RS5 will also undercut key German rivals in this segment, including the BMW M3 Sedan and Touring, which start from $199,000 and $205,000 respectively. It also undercuts the Mercedes-AMG C63 four-cylinder PHEV sedan, which starts at $199,899.

Both Audi RS 5s will come standard with a long list of features including a RS sports exhaust, RS bumpers, LED headlights and OLED rear lights, leather interior (that’s heated, ventilated and massaging for front row passengers) and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.

However, customers will be able to spec their RS 5 a lot higher if desired with the inclusion of a Carbon styling package ($12,000), Matt carbon camouflage styling package ($14,000) and Audi Sport package ($7,000) also offered, the latter bumping top speed from 250km/h to 285km/h.

Inside, the cabin offers additional options, including microfibre and leather trim ($5,000) and three wheel choices ($1,500–$2,000).

The RS5 is powered by an updated 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6, producing 375kW and 600Nm. In 2026 RS5 trim, this engine is paired with a 22kWh lithium-ion battery and a 130kW/460Nm electric motor, delivering a combined 470kW and 825Nm.

The plug-in hybrid system provides an estimated all-electric range of around 80km. Audi has not yet confirmed official energy consumption figures for New Zealand models.

The first Audi RS 5 models are due to arrive in New Zealand in September, 2026.
