Mazda

Mazda is a Japanese automotive manufacturer founded in 1920 in Hiroshima, originally as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. The brand has a long-standing history in New Zealand, having been one of the country's earliest export markets in the 1960s. Historically known for its development of the Wankel rotary engine and its partnership with Ford, Mazda has evolved into an independent company focused on its Kodo design philosophy and Skyactiv technology.

Its current local lineup is extensive, featuring a range of SUVs including the CX-3, CX-30, CX-5, and the new large-platform CX-60, CX-80, and CX-90, alongside the Mazda2, Mazda3, and the iconic MX-5 roadster. The brand is also transitioning toward electrification with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and upcoming all-electric models like the 6e and CX-6e.
