2026 Mazda CX-60 range simplified as diesel dropped for hybrid-only lineup

Mazda New Zealand has streamlined its Mazda CX-60 SUV lineup for 2026, dropping diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains in favour of a single turbocharged petrol mild-hybrid engine, while adding a new Takami Kuro flagship variant.

The updated three-model range is priced from $69,990 before on-road costs, with the new Takami Kuro Hybrid joining the existing SP and Takami grades when the first vehicles arrive in New Zealand later this month.

The biggest change is under the bonnet. Every CX-60 sold in New Zealand will now be powered by Mazda's 3.3-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder e-Skyactiv G petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The electrified powertrain produces 209kW of power and 450Nm of torque, while Mazda claims combined fuel consumption of 7.9 litres per 100km.

The SP Hybrid priced opens the range with black leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, 20-inch black alloy wheels, LED headlights, a power tailgate, a 360-degree camera, and Mazda's driver Personalisation System.

Sitting alongside the Takami, the new Takami Kuro adds a darker visual theme with gloss black exterior detailing, while the cabin features tan Nappa leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose premium audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outer rear seats, and a heated power-adjustable steering wheel.

The 360-degree camera system also gains a See-Through View function to improve visibility when manoeuvring.

Rather than adopting the Kuro's blacked-out styling, the Takami Hybrid continues with brighter exterior trim, machined-finish alloy wheels, and an exclusive front bumper design.

Inside, it features white Nappa leather upholstery, maple wood trim, and a unique dashboard insert incorporating woven cloth finished using Mazda's traditional Japanese Kakenui stitching technique.

Both Takami and Takami Kuro models are priced at $78,990.

The refreshed 2026 Mazda CX-60 range is due in New Zealand showrooms from late July 2026, with pre-orders now open through Mazda dealers.
