New Zealand pricing and line-up details have been announced for the country’s latest entries to the busy double-cab ute segment — the mild hybrid Foton Tunland V7 and V9.
The Tunland is set to be offered locally in three variants. The V7 is available in V7-C trim with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The flagship, slightly larger V9 is solely offered in V9-S spec with four-wheel drive.
The range starts at $48,990 for the V7-C 4x2, $51,990 for the V7-C 4x4, and the V9-S 4x4 is priced from $57,990.

The V7-C models come standard with a full suite of active safety tech (including adaptive cruise control and lane centering), 12.3-inch digital cluster, 14.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, and heated and powered front seats. Tailgate assist and side steps and a spray-on tub liner are also included.
Model | Price not including on-road costs |
|---|---|
Foton Tunland V7-C 4x2 | $48,990 |
Foton Tunland V7 4x4 | $51,990 |
Foton Tunland V9-S 4x4 | $57,990 |
The V7-C 4x4 adds a BorgWarner part-time 4WD system with selectable modes, additional drive modes, a rear differential lock, and all-terrain tyres.
Lastly, the V9-S adds a memory driver seat, ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a front diff lock, chrome front grille, black plastic wheel arch extensions, rear privacy glass, dual-zone climate control, a 6-speaker sound system, and more.

Debuting recently at Fieldays, and already on sale in Australia, the new Tunland variants end a local hiatus for the marque’s light commercial vehicle wing, having offered the outgoing Foton pick-up previously in New Zealand.
The Tunland’s slightly larger dimensions put the nameplate, in both of its V Series flavours, in the same segment as the likes of the GWM Cannon Alpha and the MG U9 and LDV Terron 9 twins. Foton boasts that the model has the largest wheelbase in its class.
Both models come powered by the same engine; a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel powerplant with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It produces 120kW of power and 450Nm of torque, and comes paired to an 8-speed automatic.

Foton claims a fuel economy of 8.1L/100km, and all models boast the industry standard 3500kg braked towing capacity and a 1000kg maximum payload rating. All grades have an approach angle of 28-degrees, a 21-degree break-over angle, and a 26-degree departure angle.
The Foton line-up includes a seven-year unlimited kilometer warranty and seven-year roadside assistance, helping provide assurance to buyers willing to take the plunge on a less familiar nameplate in the segment.
