MG New Zealand have revealed pricing for the upcoming MG4 EV Urban hatchback, set to arrive in local dealerships before the end of the month.
Launched as a single model range, the all-new MG4 EV Urban will be priced from $38,990 plus on-road costs. As the brand’s most affordable full electric car, the EV is aimed squarely at cost-conscious buyers looking to move away from petrol.

The MG4 EV Urban is a front-wheel drive electric hatch powered by a 54kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a WLTP range of over 405km. It also supports 150kW DC fast charging, with a 10 to 80 per cent top-up taking around 30 minutes under ideal conditions.
The MG4 EV Urban’s single electric motor produces 120kW of power and 250Nm of torque, powering the hatchback from 0 - 100km/h in 8.7 seconds.
Standard equipment will include 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights and rear lights, 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Dean Sheed, Country Business Manager for MG Motor New Zealand, said the Urban variant is designed to deliver the “right amount of EV” for local buyers.
“Designed for how Kiwis live today, the MG4 EV Urban has room for five adults, gear, and rapid DC charging capability, helping drivers stay on the move,” he said.
“Whether you’re seeking an accessible EV to suit your lifestyle or wanting to reduce your environmental footprint, the MG4 EV Urban delivers the right combination of space, technology, and efficiency.”

MG says the new model is engineered to meet a five-star safety rating and equipped with the brand’s full suite of driver assistance systems.
The new MG4 EV Urban is due in New Zealand showrooms from late April.
