Ford New Zealand has issued recall notices affecting three models across its commercial vehicle lineup, including the Ford Ranger ute and two Ford Transit van variants.
The Ranger has been recalled due to a fault with its exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. A local Ford spokesperson confirmed that a total of 88 Rangers are impacted by the recall, including 16 units that have not yet been sold to the public.
“In some of the affected vehicles, the EGR valve fails, causing weak acceleration, engine vibration, a no-start condition, or a loss of motive power, likely at low speeds of 24km/h or below,” the recall notice reads.
“A check engine light may illuminate. A loss of motive power increases the risk of a crash.”
The Transit has been handed two separate recalls covering different issues.
For 2024 to 2026 models, Ford says a potential wiring harness fault has been identified.
“Some of the affected vehicles may experience a wiring harness chafe between the main body wiring harness and the 10R80 transmission housing,” the recall notice states.
Ford New Zealand notes there is currently no fix available for either the affected Ranger or 2024-'26 Transit models. Owners can check if their vehicle is affected here and are encouraged to contact a local dealer for further information.
A separate recall has also been issued for MY2026 Transit models over a handbrake issue.
“Some of the affected vehicles may experience slippage of the handbrake cable,” Ford says.
“In the event of parking brake cable slippage and a loss of park brake function, the vehicle may move unintentionally, increasing the risk of an accident.”
Ford New Zealand is asking owners of affected 2026 Transit models to contact or visit their nearest dealer to arrange an inspection.
