GWM Cannon-XSR Limited Edition: Off-road focused ute arrives in NZ

GWM New Zealand has announced the arrival of the Cannon-XSR Limited Edition, bringing a suite of off-road focused upgrades to the turbo-diesel dual cab ute.

Limited to 50 units, the Cannon-XSR enhances off-road capability with an electronic front differential locker, front and rear metal bars, metal sidesteps, a snorkel, and Cooper all-terrain tyres.

The Limited Edition model is easy to spot thanks to its unique XSR front grille, black sports bar, and new alloy wheels. An exclusive Stealth Grey colour is also offered as a no-cost option.

GWM says these upgrades deliver genuine off-road performance while giving the ute a tougher, more adventurous appearance.

The Cannon is powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 135kW of power and 480Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Priced at $52,490 RRP, the Cannon-XSR undercuts several established rivals while offering additional off-road hardware as standard. The standard Cannon range starts from $40,990 for the entry-level Lux and $43,990 for the Ultra model.

Like the wider GWM range, it comes with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of 24/7 roadside assistance.

The limited-run XSR is part of GWM’s push to strengthen its presence in New Zealand’s highly competitive ute segment and gives dealers a fresh product to attract buyers ahead of Fieldays.
