BYD’s Fangchengbao brand has unveiled the Formula X supercar at the 2026 Beijing motor show today, marking a departure for the Chinese sub-brand that has traditionally focused on off-road SUVs.
As first reported by Car News China, the Formula X features butterfly doors and an active electric rear spoiler, as well as no fewer than 19 air vents across the body.
It appears the vehicle could be the production-ready version of the Super 9 concept shown in 2024.

While the company has yet to announce technical details, it’s believed the vehicle has an electric powertrain, given there are no visible exhaust outlets.
The sleek topless sports car is said to utilise a full carbon-fibre body to reduce weight, along with diffusers to help expel turbulent air from the rear wheels.
The cabin features a driver-centric, wrap-around “battle cockpit” design with physical buttons, integrated sports seats, and four-point racing harnesses.

Fangchengbao is one of three BYD sub-brands, sitting above Denza but below Yangwang.
