BYD New Zealand has confirmed pricing and first details of the upcoming Seal 06 Touring plug-in hybrid (PHEV) station wagon.
The top-spec Seal 06 Touring Premium is priced at $54,990 plus on-road costs and is available to order now, with first deliveries expected to begin towards the end of June.

BYD says the plug-in hybrid station wagon is aimed at delivering long range efficiency and practicality for families, fleets and regional drivers.
The model is powered by BYD’s DM 5.0 Super Hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine - with a claimed 46 per cent thermal efficiency - a front-mounted electric motor and a 19kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery.
BYD claims a driving range of more than 1,000km, with WLTP equivalent testing suggesting up to 1,300km in combined conditions, assuming regular charging.

If the Seal 06 Touring can hit that figure, that would be enough range to drive from Auckland to Christchurch on a single tank. The battery would also enable up to 100km of electric-only driving.
The Seal 06 Touring is positioned as a practical alternative to traditional SUVs. It offers 670 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,535 litres with the rear seats folded, along with roof rails, a powered tailgate and a 2,790mm wheelbase.
BYD says the model is designed for active Kiwi lifestyles, combining long distance capability with lower running costs and strong everyday usability.

BYD New Zealand general manager Warren Willmot said the wagon reflects strong demand for efficient long range vehicles.
“Families and businesses told us they wanted to drive further while spending less, and the Seal 06 Touring does exactly that,” Willmot said.
