Peugeot has moved to reassure New Zealand customers the French automaker is committed to our market, after the brand's Australian distributor announced it will stop representing the French marque across the Tasman.
This week, Australian importer Inchcape confirmed it had mutually agreed with Stellantis to end its distribution agreement for Peugeot, leaving the automaker searching for a new distributor or potentially taking over local operations itself.
On the same day, Inchape announced it would cease distribution of KGM - previously Ssangyong - vehicles in New Zealand, after three years in local showrooms.
While the move has raised questions about Peugeot's future in Australia, New Zealand importer Auto Distributors (ADNZ) has moved quickly to reassure buyers the brand is staying put.

“Peugeot New Zealand, via the local importer Auto Distributors (ADNZ), remains 100 per cent committed to our market, dealer partners and customers,” said Brian Carr, general manager at ADNZ.
“We want to reassure our loyal customers that the situation in New Zealand remains very much business as usual.”
Carr said Peugeot customers can expect ongoing sales and servicing support through the existing dealer network, with ADNZ continuing to work closely with its retail partners.
“We remain focused on delivering the best product Peugeot has available,” he said. “We want our existing loyal and new customers to have the best possible driving and ownership experience.”

While the brand appears to be winding down in Australia, In New Zealand ADNZ will expand its dealer network by four outlets from July 2026, introduce new model specification upgrades, and standardise complimentary three-year servicing across the brand's passenger and SUV range.
One of the key updates will be a revised Peugeot 3008 GT specification, which gains Alcantara trim and full electric seat adjustment with massage functionality as standard.
Despite uncertainty in Australia, ADNZ says it is focused on growth rather than consolidation, framing Peugeot as a core Stellantis brand in its local lineup.
In New Zealand, Peugeot currently offers seven models: the 208, 2008, 308, 3008 and 5008 passenger cars and SUVs, along with the Partner and Expert vans, covering everything from small hatchbacks through to commercial vehicles.
