Volvo New Zealand has confirmed that its mid-size XC60 is set to gain a sinister looking new variant, the Black Edition.
Offered solely in XC60 T8 form, the Black Edition will be priced at $119,990 plus on-road costs. First examples are set to land in the country next week, and appear in local dealerships for customers by the end of the month.
This pricing means the Black Edition comes at a $3000 premium over the standard XC60 T8 Ultra.
The brand’s local arm noted during its launch of the EX90 earlier this week that interest in the XC60 Black Edition is high, and dealers have already been selling the model to buyers prior to the variant’s formal launch.

Being based on the T8, the Black Edition is powered by Volvo’s all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol 4-cylinder engine with a rear-mounted electric motor, a 14.7kWh battery pack, and all-wheel drive.
Combined output is rated at 335kW of power and 400Nm of torque, and Volvo quotes a 0–100kph time of 4.9 seconds. On the flipside, the Swedish marque also quotes a 1.3L/100km combined fuel economy, and a pure electric range of 67km (WLTP).
Compared to a standard XC60 T8, the Black Edition trades numerous chrome exterior highlights for black trim, adds a set of gloss black 21-inch wheels, and gloss black roof rails.

Inside, it comes with an 11.2-inch centre touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 360-degree camera, head-up display, parking assist, a panoramic glass roof, Nappa leather upholstery, a power tailgate, a Bowers and Wilkins sound system, wireless charging, and plenty more.
The Black Edition will be offered in four colours. Black of course features, as does White, Denim Blue, and Vapour Grey.
The XC60, which recently benefited from a mild facelift, is one of Volvo’s key models in the region. The brand says the nameplate accounted for 34% of its local sales in 2025.
