The updated 2026 Audi Q4 e-tron electric SUV is due in New Zealand later this year, bringing a redesigned interior, more technology, faster charging, and improved driving range.

Ahead of its arrival, Audi New Zealand has released the first local details of the refreshed Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron range that will land here, saying the updated models will feel closer to an all-new vehicle than a typical mid-life facelift.

A major focus of the update is improved usability and efficiency. Audi says the most efficient Q4 Sportback e-tron can travel up to 592km on the WLTP cycle, up from 542km previously, thanks in part to a more efficient electric motor setup.

Globally, the Q4 e-tron lineup is offered with either a 63kWh or 82kWh battery pack. New Zealand specifications haven’t yet been confirmed, though overseas models produce between 125kW and 250kW, with torque outputs ranging from 310Nm to 545Nm.

Charging performance has also improved, with peak DC fast-charging capacity increasing from 175kW to 185kW in some dual-motor all-wheel drive quattro variants.

Audi says some versions can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 27 minutes, while the Q4 Sportback e-tron quattro performance can recover up to 185km of range in just 10 minutes under ideal conditions.

The updated SUV also gains battery preconditioning, allowing the battery to automatically or manually warm itself before arriving at a charger to maximise charging speeds.

The Q4 e-tron is also the first Audi model to offer bidirectional charging capability. Its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allows owners to power external devices using the vehicle’s high-voltage battery, including charging electric bikes or other appliances.

Inside, Audi has introduced a heavily redesigned cabin centred around a new ‘digital stage’ display setup.

A panoramic display combines an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while an optional 12.0-inch passenger display is also available.

Other new interior features include upgraded ambient lighting, a redesigned centre console, and twin 15W wireless phone chargers with cooling.

Audi’s latest voice-controlled intelligent assistant has also been added, allowing drivers to control vehicle functions and access information using natural voice commands.

Exterior changes are more subtle, though Audi has introduced new digital lighting technology.

At the front, segmented digital LED daytime running lights allow drivers to select different light signatures through the infotainment system, while second-generation digital OLED tail-lights bring new lighting graphics and additional safety functionality.

An optional proximity lighting feature can also warn nearby road users if they get too close to the parked vehicle.

Audi New Zealand hasn’t yet confirmed local pricing or detailed specifications, though the company says more information will be announced in the coming months ahead of the SUV’s launch.

“While this is a product upgrade, the new Audi Q4 e-tron feels more like an all-new model,” said Audi New Zealand general manager Greg Leet.

“Not only is it more modern and striking in appearance, but it also impresses with an all-new interior.

“A suite of new features and technological advances further enhance its position as the electric entry point to the Audi brand, and we look forward to shaping the offering for the New Zealand market.”
