Mercedes-Benz prices electric GLC, updated AMG SUV range for New Zealand

Mercedes-Benz New Zealand has confirmed local pricing for its updated Mercedes-Benz GLC lineup, headlined by the arrival of the brand's first all-electric GLC alongside refreshed AMG performance variants.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4MATIC electric is available to order from $128,900, giving the German brand's best-selling SUV a dedicated battery-electric option with up to 630km of WLTP driving range.

The electric GLC rides on a dedicated EV platform rather than a converted combustion architecture, and features dual electric motors producing 360kW of power and 800Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds, while energy comes from a 94.4kWh usable nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery.

An 800-volt electrical architecture allows DC fast charging at up to 330kW, with Mercedes claiming up to 300km of driving range can be added in as little as 10 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging of up to 22kW is also supported.

Claimed energy consumption is 17.1kWh/100km on the WLTP cycle.

The electric GLC also introduces several efficiency-focused technologies, including a two-speed rear transmission and a disconnect unit that can disengage the front motor during cruising to reduce energy consumption.

Compared with the petrol-powered GLC, the electric version has an 84mm longer wheelbase, helping free up additional passenger space.

Boot capacity stands at 570 litres, expanding to 1740 litres with the rear seats folded, while a 128-litre front boot provides extra storage.

Standard equipment includes the MBUX Superscreen infotainment system, DIGITAL LIGHT headlights, a panoramic glass roof with SKY CONTROL electrochromic dimming, Burmester 3D surround sound, AMG Line styling, 21-inch alloy wheels, and Mercedes-Benz's latest MB.DRIVE suite of driver assistance technology.

Customers can option a Luxury Package for $8200, adding the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, upgraded Burmester 4D audio system, massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and additional driver assistance systems.

An Agility and Comfort Package adds AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-wheel steering for $5200.

Mercedes-Benz is also offering a limited number of Launch Edition vehicles priced from $126,000. These replace the passenger-side display of the MBUX Superscreen with a decorative illuminated panel capable of displaying custom graphics and animations.
The electric GLC joins the recently announced Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupe, which start from $158,400 and $162,500, respectively.

Both the SUV and Coupe continue to use a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, producing 330kW and 600Nm, with a temporary boost function adding a further 40Nm.

Mercedes-Benz claims the AMG models can complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.2 seconds, while combined fuel consumption is rated at 9.6L/100km.

Buyers can also specify the AMG Dynamic Plus Package for $3700, adding active engine mounts, a rear locking differential, red brake calipers, and a Drift Mode.
