Nissan Z Nismo manual joins NZ range as sports car lineup gains 2026 updates

The Nissan Z lineup has expanded in New Zealand for 2026 with the arrival of a long-awaited manual version of the flagship Nismo, giving enthusiasts the option of rowing their own gears in the most powerful factory Z ever sold here.

Available to order now ahead of first customer deliveries in September, the manual Nismo headlines a broader update that also brings revised styling, chassis improvements, new equipment, and a fresh hero paint colour across the range.

The addition of the six-speed manual takes the local Z lineup to four variants, with buyers now able to choose between Coupe manual and automatic models, alongside Nismo manual and automatic versions.

While the standard Z continues with its twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 producing 298kW of power and 475Nm of torque, the Nismo retains its uprated outputs of 309kW and 520Nm.

Previously, New Zealand buyers could only access those extra outputs with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The new manual Nismo uses a short-stroke six-speed gearbox and features an exclusive drive mode developed specifically for the manual transmission.

The 2026 update also brings mechanical improvements for the flagship variant, with both Nismo models now fitted with GT-R-derived two-piece front brake rotors and new brake calipers.

Nissan says the upgraded hardware reduces unsprung mass by around 9kg, helping sharpen handling and braking performance.

The regular Z Coupe also receives suspension upgrades, with manual and automatic variants now fitted with revised Nismo monotube dampers designed to improve both ride comfort and handling.

Visually, the Coupe gains a redesigned front bumper and grille, along with a fresh 19-inch alloy wheel design.

Leading the updated colour palette is a new 'Unryu Green' hero finish, while Boulder Gray with a contrasting black roof also returns.

Inside, every Z now features a wireless phone charger, a frameless auto-dimming rear-view mirror, revised startup graphics, and a redesigned intelligent key. A tan interior is also available as a no-cost option on Coupe variants.

"The Z is a Nissan icon. It has always been about the connection between driver and car, so bringing a manual to the Nismo and genuine GT-R-derived hardware doubles down on our promise to our most committed enthusiasts," said Nissan Oceania managing director Steve Milette.

"Add the Coupe's fresh new face, the heritage-inspired Unryu Green, and 2026 is a milestone year for Z."

The 2026 Nissan Z range, including the new manual Nismo Z, will be available for order from this month with first customer arrivals expected in September 2026.
