New Zealand buyers considering an electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) will be able to compare models and take test drives at a new consumer expo launching in Auckland later this year.
The inaugural NZ EV & Tech Expo will run from November 13-15, 2026 at Auckland Showgrounds, bringing together vehicle manufacturers, charging technology providers and industry experts in a bid to simplify the buying process for prospective EV owners.
Organisers say visitors will be able to test drive vehicles onsite while also attending seminars covering topics including battery safety, financing, advanced driver assistance systems, charging infrastructure, and government support for EV adoption.
The event is targeting both private buyers and business fleet operators, with organisers expecting interest from companies looking to reduce operating costs and transition to lower-emissions vehicles.

Laurence Carey, managing director of Squid Group, said the expo aims to help buyers navigate what has become an increasingly crowded market.
"There's a lot of interest in EVs and plug-in hybrids, but for many people the market still feels crowded and confusing," said Mr Carey.
"This expo gives people the chance to compare the latest models in person and actually test drive a few vehicles before making the decision to buy.
"Every major electric and hybrid brand will be under one roof. For someone trying to make a decision, that's genuinely rare, and it changes the whole experience."
Steven Lin, founder and director of BWK Group Limited, said fleet operators would also benefit from speaking directly with suppliers and industry experts.
"Business leaders are looking to electrify with confidence, and they'll gain a competitive edge at the expo with hands-on opportunities to explore cost savings, understand real-world fleet transitions and connect directly with suppliers and experts in the industry," he said.

Organisers say exhibitor interest has been strong ahead of the inaugural event, with several brands already confirmed, including Geely, Arcfox, Baic, Dongfeng, Farizon, Leapmotor, Lotus, Polestar, Smart, Volvo and Zeekr.
Geely has signed on as the event's title automotive sponsor. Jordan Haines, Geely brand manager, said the company saw the expo as an opportunity to showcase its expanding electrified lineup.
"Geely is committed to electrifying New Zealand's future by bringing accessible vehicles to market at price parity with ICE. We are proud to partner with the NZ EV & Tech Expo to lead the discussions of EVs in New Zealand and show that our electrified vehicle range is the perfect fit for New Zealanders."
The launch comes as New Zealand's EV market continues to evolve, with buyers increasingly able to choose from a growing number of EVs and PHEVs across a wider range of price points than ever before.
Early-bird tickets to the NZ EV & Tech Expo are available free through the event's website.
