Since becoming a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group in 2000, the brand has grown into a significant global player, entering the New Zealand market in 2003. Distributed locally by the Giltrap Group, Skoda has earned a reputation for its Simply Clever design philosophy, which focuses on practical features and efficient use of space.

The brand's local range includes a broad lineup of SUVs such as the Kodiaq and Karoq, alongside the Octavia and Superb, the latter of which was selected as the New Zealand Police frontline vehicle in 2020.
